Following his Sharks debut in 2001, Steel quickly established himself as one of the very best receivers in the league. Consistently the league’s leading receiver, he holds Shark and league records in every category in receiving. Won a national title with the Sharks in 2003.

Represented the South of England in 2004, and also has been a regular for Team England from 2004 to the present day. Represented GB Lions in the 2005 European Championships in Helsinki.
