London Liberty take the Spoils

20th August 2006

The London Liberty won the recent West Sussex tournament in Chichester, with three wins and a tie from their four matches. In a convincing performance they consolidated 2nd place in the ESFL (behind the absent Leicester Eagles for this tournament), with three wins and a tie from their four matches on the day. After opening with a 26-0 shutout over Team Voodoo, they tied 7-7 in a thrilling match with the Barbarians, before sweeping the two Chichester sides (37-6 vs Sharks and 29-0 vs Thespians).

The Sharks took 2nd place on the day with three wins out of four, pipping the Barbarians (making their 3rd and therefore Final Four qualifying appearance of the season). Sharks edged Barbarians for 2nd place courtesy of their 7-6 win at the end of the tournament. Barbarians finished 3rd, with Team Voodoo coming fourth, and the Thespians propping up the table despite gutsy performances.
