"Final Four" Will Make for Exciting End of Season Playoff
16th February 2006
As per the league AGM, the 5man league format will continue as is, with teams qualifying for the league title by competing in a minimum of three tournaments throughout 2006. The top 4 ranking sides (based on win/lose %) in the league prior to the December Beach Bowl will now compete at Beach Bowl VI in December to playoff for the league championship - there will also be a trophy for the winner for the first time. They shall be known as the "Final Four"!
Format for the ESFL championship day will be:
Game One: 1st in league vs 4th in league Game Two: 2nd in league vs 3rd in league 3rd place playoff: Loser of game One vs loser of Game Two ESFL Championship Match: Winner of Game One vs Winner of Game Two
All games will be played under ESFL Championship rules with each game being 20 minutes each way.
Please also be aware that as per the AGM only players that have played in a ranking tournament are eligable for that team at the championship play-offs for the English 5-man title and if they play for more than one ranking team that season then they can only play for the team that they represented first that season in the finals.
Teams that finish the 2006 league season outside of the top 4 positions in the league or have not played the necessary three tournaments in 2006 but wish to play on the day will compete in the Beach Bowl tournament that same day at the same venue.
