BAFA to recognise adult flag football

4th November 2006

BAFA are setting in motion a series of steps that will lead to the formation of a single National Association for adult flag football. All Flag Football in Great Britain will now be coming under the BAFA umbrella subject to ratification by the respective leagues.

Currently Scotland already has a senior flag league (Scottish Flag Football Association) which is governed by the Scottish Gridiron Association and ultimately under the BAFA umbrella, but senior flag football has been run independently of BAFA since 1999 by the English Senior Flag League. The formation of a single National Association governing senior flag football on both sides of the border will enable a cross border games to take place for the first time and a British championship game between the English and Scottish champions.

It will also enable the National Programme to push on with a much larger pool of players for the GB Lions Senior Flag team as they aim to become European champions in 2007.
