BSFL Week 8 Preview

The UCLA Renegades (3-1) host the Sheffield Lightning in a double-header in week 8 of the BSFL this Sunday. The Renegades, who are currently second in the Northern Conference, will clinch the Northern Conference with two victories. They opened their season with a surprise 14-12 home victory over the reigning champion Fen Harriers in May, but followed that up with an even more surprising 26-0 defeat against Leicester Eagles in June.

Sheffield (2-0) currently lead the Northern Conference, but their position is a false one. Both of their victories came from forfeit wins against Birmingham. The Lightning, therefore, will be making their first appearance of the 2001 season Sunday, and will be looking to perform better than the last time they played the Renegades when they lost 22-0 in October 2000. If Sheffield can upset the odds then they will throw the whole Northern Conference up for grabs.
